What is your favourite memory from playing for Lincoln City?
Our FL cup run in 1967. When in round four we went onto play Derby County at Sincil Bank (record attendance) after a draw at Derby's Baseball ground.
What did you enjoy most whilst living in the city of Lincoln?
The people and the city's rural situation. I was always a half-time player as I taught in the Sincil Bank's Secondary Modern School and then the City School (Comprehensive) where I was head of english.
What is the funniest recollection you have from a Lincoln City football match and why?
Difficult. I broke my elbow socket in a cup tie replay. I was hospitalised and still in my 'kit'. Next day I had an interview for a teaching promotion. I went to the interview still in my playing kit and I got the job. I think they felt sorry for me.
Have you got any 'embarrassing' anecdote from when you played for Lincoln City?
As a goalkeeper, too many to write here.
Do you remain in contact with some of your Lincoln City team-mates or the Lincoln community?
Yes I still speak to those who still live in the Lincoln area. But as a teacher I retired in 1994. I still meet former pupils who still me what an awful goalkeeper I was.
Who was the most talented player that you played with for Lincoln City? And, who was the most talented player that you played against?
All of them, including Roger Holmes and Dave Smith. Billy Best at Northampton was a difficult opponent.
I also enjoyed the season with Fred Green at Lincoln United in 1975 where I met a lot of talented players who could have played league football. My career finished when I developed a serious knee injury which finished my playing career.
What are your thoughts on the growth of the city and the football club when you visit now?
Both the city and football club are not recognisible from 1967. The university has had a major affect on the city and football club.
