Following the conclusion of the 2023/24 season Lincoln City Women can confirm that six first-team players will depart the club this summer.
Toni McHamilton, Leah Hardy, Ella Thompson-Moulding, Lauren Nicholson, Alice Wood and Poppy Irvine will not be staying with the Imps for the 2024/25 campaign.
Toni McHamilton, a leader on and off the pitch, has played a significant role in raising the profile of the side and has and continues to be a staunch advocate for women’s football.
A two-time Golden Boot winner for City, Toni has proven herself to be a prolific goal-scorer at step four and has recently started to join the BBC Radio Lincolnshire team in commentating on men’s first-team matches.
Another great servant of the club Leah Hardy will also leave City. Leah has had a knack for the spectacular while in an Imps shirt, with a 35-yard free-kick at the LNER Stadium one that will last long in the memory.
Having recently broken into the first-team with some stellar performances, Lauren Nicholson moves on after a change in location.
The youngster has shown great potential through City’s U23 side and produced an outstanding assist for Maddi Green in one of the goals of the season.
Ella Thompson-Moulding also departs due to location following a brilliant season with the Imps that saw her win Player’s Player of the Season and captain the side for the second half of the campaign.
Alice Wood leaves the Imps after joining the club in September.
Promising young goalkeeper Poppy Irvine will return to her parent club Birmingham City following a two-year loan stint with City.
Poppy has been a fantastic ‘keeper for the Imps as she continues her development, and City would like to thank Birmingham City for lending the goalkeeper’s services.
Everyone at City Women wishes all six players the best in their future careers.
