Lee Mitchell believes the Lincolnshire County Cup represents a good chance for his side to win some silverware this season.
City begin their campaign by travelling to Skegness Town in the quarter-finals, and Mitchell is hoping the Imps can progress in the competition.
Mitchell said: “The league is our bread and butter, but it’s the chance for silverware and the players are keen to get their hands on it.
“We’ll focus on ourselves against Skegness and keep our standards high regardless of the weather, conditions and opposition and just take control of what we can do.”
The Imps are coming off the back of a 1-1 draw with Leek Town following a late equaliser from the visitors, but Mitchell took more positives than he did negatives from the match.
He added: “There were so many more positives than negatives, especially the football we played on that pitch in those conditions, the players are really starting to move forward, and that’s what we need in this second half of the season.
“All being well we get the right result on Sunday and keep building on the good start to the year we’ve had.”
