Lee Mitchell was impressed with his side’s attitude despite losing 2-0 to Sheffield in the first round of the FAWNL Plate.
Two quick-fire goals in the second half from Sam Brooks and Millie Fulger ultimately meant that Sheffield progressed in the plate.
Mitchell said: “This group of players don’t quit, they did work hard, they were wanting to score, it wasn’t as if their heads dropped.
“They believed they could score, and that’s always there with this team - so credit with that, we always feel like we are in the game.”
The game also saw Neve Hincks and Melissa Riley make their first appearances for the Imps this season, and Mitchell was impressed with their contributions.
He added: “I thought they made a difference today, and to see Melissa come in and run at them was what we needed, so we could draw their players out and create space in behind.
“They did well when they came on, so that was something that we’ll definitely take away from the game.”
