Lee Mitchell was impressed with the character his side displayed as they came from 3-1 down to beat Lichfield City in the third qualifying round of the FA Cup.
Three goals in five second-half minutes ultimately saw the Imps complete an extraordinary comeback to put themselves in the hat for the first round draw.
Mitchell said: “It’s certainly something to build on. We showed an abundance of character and we got our reward in the end.
“It was nice to see, and we’re in the next round now so we’ll see who we get.”
Mitchell was also complimentary of their hosts as the side from tier five took City all the way in a seven goal thriller.
He added: “It’s the FA Cup, you don’t know what you’re going to get. The leagues and positions don’t mean anything.
“Lichfield came out with nothing to lose and they played that way. They played without any fear and they challenged everything.
“At half-time we had to discuss a few things to try and change the game, but that’s because of how good Lichfield were.”
