Lincoln City Women continued their preparations for the 23/24 season with an impressive 3-1 victory against Hull City Ladies.
City got off to the best possible start as they took the lead just ten minutes into the contest.
An unfortunate slip from a Hull City defender allowed Toni McHamilton time and space inside the box to pick out the top corner.
The goal seemed to inspire the Imps as Leah Hardy attempted to catch the ‘keeper out with a couple of long-range efforts, but the Hull shot-stopper stood strong.
Hardy would find the back of the net in the 24th minute though as another lapse of concentration in the visitor’s ranks led to Hardy clinically finding the top corner.
City didn’t let their foot come off the pedal however as they continued to push forward, with McHamilton denied a third by a strong stop from the visiting ‘keeper.
In the 39th minute the Imps made it three as a trialist thumped an effort into the opposite corner following some good footwork from McHamilton on the edge of the area.
The same trialist then struck the crossbar with a fiercely hit effort from just inside the box.
Hull tried to muster a response at the end of the half, but a free-kick from 25 yards was beaten away by Timson in the final stages of the first period.
The second half was a relatively lowkey affair with neither side creating much in front of goal.
With 20 minutes left, the Tigresses did manage to cut the deficit when a free kick was slid home at the back post.
Chantelle Robinson almost restored the three goal advantage when she shot just wide of the far post.
With just a few minutes to go the visitors came close to grabbing a second when a corner was headed goalwards, but City managed to clear the danger away.
Ultimately City managed to see out victory ahead of their final pre-season friendly against Hull United next Sunday.
