Wright completes move to Grimsby

Jordan Wright holds a football. He is wearing a white and green training top as well as goalkeeper gloves.

Jordan Wright has completed a move to Sky Bet League Two side Grimsby Town for an undisclosed fee.

The 25-year-old goalkeeper joined City from Nottingham Forest in January 2022 and kept 10 clean sheets in 31 appearances for the Imps.

Wright also shone in the penalty shootouts he was involved in - making a hat-trick of saves against Barrow in the Carabao Cup run which ultimately led to City reaching the last 16 of the competition for the first time since the 1967/68 season.

Jez George, City’s director of football, said: “Jordan has served the club really well over the past two and a half years. This role is difficult to sustain for a long period of time, especially as Jordan played a number of games in his first season after an injury to Josh Griffiths but was frustrated by limited opportunities in the past two seasons due to the form and consistency of Carl Rushworth and Lukas Jensen.

"Therefore, we felt that it was only fair and respectful to allow Jordan to pursue his desire for regular football and the opportunity to establish himself as a No.1 goalkeeper within the EFL.”

Everyone at the club would like to place on record our thanks to Jordan for his efforts for the Imps and wish him all the best for his future.
