Sam Tillen believes there are lessons to be learned after an opening day defeat to Wrexham U18 on Tuesday.
The young Imps were beaten by Wrexham in their opening fixture of the 24/25 season and Tillen is hopeful that his side can take away a lot from the game and improve moving forward.
He said: “There were some good bits in terms of our attacking play. I thought we looked a threat at times and created a number of really good chances but we just didn’t take them.
“After a bright start, Wrexham’s goal took a little bit out of us and we took time to react to that. Hopefully we can learn from these things going forward. We have a short turnaround to Friday so hopefully we can put those things right.”
City return home to Bottesford on Friday to face last season’s EFL Youth Alliance title winners Mansfield Town.
He added: “It’s a quick turnaround, it’s an opportunity for us to regroup and go again so that’s good.
“Goals change games, there could’ve been a big momentum shift if we got a goal with one of the opportunities we had against Wrexham, but we didn’t so we have to just look at it, see where we can improve and go again.”
