City were narrowly defeated by Wrexham at the STöK Cae Ras after a second half goal for the hosts.
Paudie O’Connor had the first effort of the game after Sean Roughan whipped in a set piece from the right that was won by Conor McGrandles.
Bailey Cadamateri fired wide after the ball bounced around in the box after another set piece from Roughan.
Jack Moylan was providing a threat down the left for the Imps and won a set piece on the left hand side. The Irishman’s delivery was deflected behind by Matty James but the subsequent corner came to nothing.
An effort from Moylan on the edge of the box whistled wide of a post after some neat play involving Jefferies and McGrandles.
A set piece from James McClean threatened the City goal as defender Lewis Brunt headed an effort onto the crossbar.
Early in the second half, City had a spell of possession around the Wrexham goal but Moylan’s eventual effort from the edge of the area was wide of the mark.
Ollie Palmer managed to find himself some space in the middle but headed his effort straight at George Wickens. Palmer had another effort down the left but fired over.
Wrexham took the lead after 67 minutes when a deflected Palmer effort came off Tendayi Darikwa and ended up in the back of the net.
Palmer almost doubled his side’s lead but headed an effort from close range straight at Wickens.
Moylan pounced on a defensive mistake from Wrexham but could not direct his long range effort on target.
Freddie Draper and Makama caused problems in the Wrexham 18-yard box but the latter could not poke his effort past Callum Burton.
City broke forward quickly in the dying moments but Rob Street dragged his effort wide of a post.
