Street heads to Doncaster on loan

Rob Street has joined Doncaster Rovers, currently second in League Two, on loan until the end of the season.

The 23-year-old forward signed a four-year contract with the Imps this summer and is part of the club’s long-term plans.

For now, he will join Grant McCann’s side as they continue to fight for promotion from Sky Bet League Two.

Director of football Jez George said: “We have a responsibility to Rob to help him get some football as with his injury last January and limited opportunities this season for us, he desperately needs some minutes on the pitch. All of our staff cannot speak highly enough of Rob’s character and mentality during a tough first six months at the club. He trains well every day, has an exemplary attitude and just needs games, which we haven’t been able to provide for him. This loan is good for all parties.

"Rob joins a good club in a brilliant position and their manager Grant McCann has made it really clear to us and Rob how much he wants him and the role he sees for him in the team. We believe that Rob can go there, get his game time, perform well, score goals, help Doncaster achieve their aims and come back better placed in the summer to do the same with us next season and beyond.”
