Jovon Makama experienced a special moment when he scored his first career hat-trick on Saturday - the first Academy graduate to achieve the feat since the great Mick Harford in 1980.
Makama is now City's top scorer with 11 goals in all competitions, and has also contributed six assists across his 41 appearances.
The 21-year-old said: "It was a moment I'll never forget and felt that bit more special having played for this club since I was 16.
"The reception fans gave me when I came off was incredible. The feeling you get when you’ve got the players, staff and fans all congratulating you is amazing, it’s a day I'll always remember."
Makama played in the match alongside fellow Academy graduates Sean Roughan and Freddie Draper. All three have featured more than 40 times this season an, between them, the trio have contributed 17 goals and 11 assists.
It is a day Makama will never forget. He said: “It was very special for me. My family were at the game, and I know how happy they’ll have been seeing me perform so well. I’m obviously very pleased with how I played and to get my first career hat-trick.
While thrilled with his own display Makama was keen to heap praise on his team-mates, as Michael Skubala’s side made it nine goals in their past two games on home soil with another pulsating victory in front of their own fans.
He added: “Individually it was fantastic, but first and foremost, I thought the team were excellent and it’s a great win.
“We were aggressive and played on the front foot throughout the game, and didn’t take our foot off the gas at any stage.
“We played very well against Crawley in our last home game, and we showed great fight at Birmingham, too.We took that into Saturday’s game and ripped them apart at times.”
