Skubala reviews 'professional' Imps victory

Michael Skubala was thrilled with the professionalism his side showed in beating 10-man Reading 2-0 at the LNER Stadium.

Goals from Bailey Cadamarteri and Reeco Hackett capped a brilliant performance which saw the Imps return to winning ways in Sky Bet League One.

Skubala said: “We wanted to start fast and aggressively. We wanted to take the game to them as always, and I think we did that really well.

“Our press was great, we got 1-0 up and they couldn’t cope with us when we got after them a little bit.

“The sending off changed the game, because while playing against 10 men might sound easy, you have to do a real professional job. You have to make sure you’re good with the ball, and then wait for the right moments and we did that really well.”

There were several stand-out performers, but Skubala was particularly impressed with the maturity and match intelligence that Bailey Cadamarteri and Jovon Makama exhibited.

He added: “Bailey’s getting better outside the box. He’s scoring good goals and he gets on the end of things which is really pleasing, but I thought what was most pleasing about his game on this occasion was the way he pressed with Ben House in the first 15 minutes which shows his tactical understanding is improving.

“Jovon was electric. Every time he got on the ball he was causing havoc and causing all sorts of problems with getting in behind. He didn’t quite get his goal but it was a really mature performance from him.”
