Head coach Michael Skubala said "it was a tough result to take" after City's defeat at Crawley Town on Tuesday night, which saw them undone by three second-half strikes.
He said: "We're really disappointed with the second half particularly. In the first half we had control and looked good without having a real threat in the box.
"Early in the second-half, we've fallen asleep on a moment and then we were chasing but without any real structure, and were caught again twice on the transition.
"It was a really disappointing night because we have to be better with the ball when we have teams locked in, to create chances. We didn't cleanly open them up. Overall, it wasn't good enough really."
He added: "When you're pushing you can get caught, but it's the manner in which we were caught. It's about game management as a group and we looked a bit 'young' out there in terms of that. We need to have a discipline to keep the ball in certain moments. You can't lose the ball where we did.
"It's the first away defeat since January so in the context of the bigger picture it's a bad day at the office for sure. We've got to get better. We must keep moving and keep improving."
