Head coach Michael Skubala felt his side edged their away game at Exeter City and were unfortunate not to get all three points.
The two sides played out a 0-0 draw at St James Park on Saturday. Skubala said: "They probably just had the better first half, while we were better in the second, but I felt in both halves we created the bigger chances.
"In the end a point is fair. It's a tough place to come but I think we just edged it and probably should have got three points. In the end I felt like they were on the ropes and we were creating more. In one way it's a good point on the road but in another we're disappointed not to have got all three.
"They're a good football team, are well coached by Gary Caldwell and know how they want to play. To not get beat is really pleasing but it's just unfortunate we couldn't nick the three points. We have to take our chances in the final third."
Skubala was forced into a change at the interval when Ethan Erhahon came off the bench to replace injured captain Paudie O'Connor.
The head coach added: "We had to change some personnel because Paudie had a dead leg but we looked like the side that were going to win it in the second half.
"It's a dead leg and when it stiffens up you can't move, but we're not too concerned and hopefully we'll get that sorted ahead of next week."
