Michael Skubala was pleased with another successful pre-season outing as the Imps continued preparations in a behind closed doors friendly against Norwich City U21.
Skubala's side ran out 2-1 winners at the Lotus Training Centre on Tuesday afternoon, and Skubala thought it was another important step towards being ready for the start of the 2024/25 season.
He said: “It was tough and it was really warm, it was one of our most difficult pre-season games but it’s good to get minutes into the players, with three different 30 minute periods.”
Jovon Makama added his third goal of pre-season, while new signing Dom Jeffries was also on the scoresheet for the Imps
Skubala said: “He’ll keep building his confidence along with all the other nines. They need to hit the back of the net, so it’s nice to see them doing that.
“It’s early for Dom but he’s been in training this week. It’s all about getting minutes into him and the players. I thought he did well when he came on, he’s getting there just needs to build up.”
City finish pre-season with a return to the LNER Stadium on Saturday against Arsenal U21 and Skubala is looking forward to returning home.
He added: “It’ll be really good to get on the pitch, especially for the new lads to feel it with some home fans.
"We want to put on a good show but for me the priority is looking at players and getting the minutes into the legs before we hit the start of the season.”
