Skubala: It was two good teams having a go

Michael Skubala said that his side’s narrow defeat against Wycombe Wanderers looked like two good sides battling it out.

Tendayi Darikwa’s brace was not enough for the Imps as clinical finishing from the league leaders ultimately saw them take all three points at the LNER Stadium.

Skubala said: “They are a really clinical team in the final third, they’re really good on the top line and that’s for me why they’re top of the league.

“In the end it was two good teams having a really good go at it. We had a go, they had a go, and they were just the more clinical side on the day."

City’s head coach also praised the immense work of the club’s ground staff to ensure the game was played, having come into work at 5am to remove the covers from the pitch.

He added: “The ground staff and Foundation staff have helped us a lot because training has been difficult with the snow.

“Everyone at the club has been amazing to help get this game on, so credit to the guys and how hard they’ve worked - some of them have been up since 5am working.”
