Shaw pleased with determined Imps

Tom Shaw felt there was plenty for City to build on after Saturday's battling performance earned a point at Charlton Athletic.

The Imps were disappointed to only take one point back from the capital having impressed in taking a 2-0 lead, but did halt Charlton's winning run which had seen them take maximum points from their eight previous outings at the Valley.

The assistant head coach said: "Everyone's disappointed because they're really good professionals who worked so hard to try and get three points, but there are so many positives for us as a club to take from that.

"When we analyse that there will be loads to learn from, and hopefully the next time we're 2-0 up at a big club we'll learn from this and get over the line. The supporters were brilliant and got behind us from the first minute until the last."

Shaw has no doubt over the motivation the players have going into the final five fixtures of the campaign.

He added: "To get four points from the games against Huddersfield Town and Charlton Athletic is a haul we can be happy with, there have been some really good individual performances and collective pieces of quality.

"This group impresses me every day. Players who are not in the team are still bang on it every day, there's no sign of them switching off and we are laying some really strong foundations for the future."

Goalscorer Collins added: "I thought we set up really well and upset their rhythm in the first half. At 2-0 you fancy yourself, but they put a lot of pressure on us. When you're up there in the play-off positions these things tend to go for you.

"It was a great ball in from Erik Ring for my first goal, and Ben House did well for my second."
