Roughan keen to reward support

Sean Roughan in pre-season training.

Sean Roughan said all the players are determined to reward the fans for their backing ahead of the 2024/25 season.

The Imps came in for their first training session back at the Soper of Lincoln Elite Performance Centre on Monday, and the Irishman described his excitement at reuniting with City supporters following the off-season.

Roughan said: “I can’t wait to play in front of the fans. I’ve been here five years, and I’ve never seen a crowd as good as ours in the league that always sticks by you even when things aren’t going quite right.

“The last game of last season didn’t go our way, but they kept singing and clapping for us - they’ve always been with us.”

It’s not been a completely football-free summer for the 20-year-old however, as he was called up to represent Republic of Ireland U21.

He said: “It was great to get the minutes that I got on international duty, in the heat as well it stands me in good stead coming into pre-season.

“I enjoyed being with the lads, and representing my country. Every time you get called up it’s a surreal moment.”

Make sure you’re there to back Sean and the lads in 24/25 by purchasing your gold membership!
