Skipper Paudie O'Connor joined Imps supporters to see off a number of firefighters who are walking from the LNER Stadium to Valley Parade to raise £56,000 for the Bradford Burns Unit.
Firefighters from Lincoln and Bradford are walking between the two football grounds in a challenge to mark the 40th anniversary of the Valley Parade Fire which claimed the lives of 54 Bradford City fans as well as Imps supporters Bill Stacey and Jim West.
And not only are they walking the full 75 mile journey, they are planning on doing it in just a day and a half - having left the centre spot of the LNER Stadium at 9am on Friday and hoping to enter Valley Parade prior to kick-off as the Bantams take on Crewe Alexandra.
Paudie, who handed over a signed shirt which will be used to raise funds, said: "This is such a brilliant cause and I'm really impressed by everyone who is taking part.
"I've played for both Bradford City and Lincoln City and know just how much impact the tragedy had on both clubs. It'd be brilliant if they hit their target of raising £56,000 in memory of the 56 people who didn't come home that day."
Paudie joined club representatives and fans to speak with some of the participants before they left - sending them off with a guard of honour.
