Sam Tillen highlighted the commitment of his side after a late win against Morecambe on Saturday.
Zane Okoro opened his account for the season before Gbolahan Okewoye scored a late winner in added time. Tillen thought his side were deserved winners as they made it two wins from two in the EFL Youth Alliance league.
He said: “I think we thoroughly deserved to win, we created a number of really good chances and looked relatively solid at the back.
“I was really pleased with the commitment of the lads to keep going and not be disheartened because of the number of chances we had before the goal. They could’ve felt sorry for themselves, they didn’t do that and they kept going to the end and got the rewards for it.”
Tillen praised Isaac Allan’s character after the goalkeeper made a late penalty save that secured City all three points on the road.
He added: “Despite the disappointment of conceding the penalty, Isaac managed to stand up and save it, which is testament to his character so he did really well in that moment.”
