City U18 travel to Sheffield Hallam University on Friday afternoon to take on Chesterfield U18 in the second group game of the EFL Youth Alliance Cup (12noon KO).
Hear from head coach Sam Tillen and defender Charlie Carlisle as well as important match information in this preview.
Sam Tillen’s thoughts:
“We’re looking forward to returning to cup action on Friday against Chesterfield. The first game of the group against Mansfield probably could’ve been more than a point but another positive result will mean we’ve given ourselves a solid base to build on going forward.
“Chesterfield are a good side and they’ll give us a tough test but we’ll prepare in the right way and make sure we’re ready for that.
“The past few weeks have been good for the lads and hopefully we can continue our unbeaten run with a good result in the cup.”
Charlie Carlisle on Chesterfield:
“It should be a good game, we’ll do our research on Chesterfield and see what they’re like so we can go into the game and get a positive result.”
A look at the opposition:
City’s last trip to Chesterfield was in 2019 and it was a 5-1 win for the Imps away from home. Chesterfield come into the game trying to bounce back from a 2-1 home defeat to Shrewsbury Town.
Similarly to City, Friday’s hosts started their Youth Alliance Cup campaign with a 0-0 draw away from home.
