Jovon Makama felt City deserved more from their first home league game of the 24/25 season.
The Imps lost 2-1 at the LNER Stadium against Barnsley and despite a second-half strike from Ben House, City couldn’t force an equaliser.
Makama said: “The lads played well but it just came down to the fine details and decision making.
“We played some good stuff particularly in the first half but there were definitely moments that we need to work on. We’ll watch it back and be ready for the next game."
Makama has started the first two league fixtures of the season and opened his account against Harrogate Town in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night from the bench.
He added: “It’s good that the gaffer trusts me. Burton was a good game and we took the three points and then we were unlucky against Barnsley, but I’m happy with my start to the season.”
