Kick off change for Northampton Town trip

City’s trip to Northampton Town on Saturday 18 January will now kick-off at 2pm.

The Imps have reluctantly agreed to the request, which was made by the home side due to Northampton Saints having a home fixture that afternoon, to bring kick-off time forward by an hour.

Saints’ fixture, against Munster, cannot be moved from their 3.15pm start time due to television coverage, and with their home stadium being in close proximity to Sixfields the change was proposed to avoid the operational challenges and severe congestion likely if both kicked off within 15 minutes of each other.

City’s chief executive Liam Scully said: “We prefer our games to be at the traditional 3pm Saturday slot and understand the frustration of fans when kick-off is moved from that time, but Northampton Town were faced with a really challenging situation through no fault of their own.

“We’ve worked with our colleagues at Northampton to find solutions and I’m pleased we could keep the kick-off as close to 3pm as possible to avoid major disruption.”
