Sam Tillen was pleased to get back to winning ways against Mansfield Town on Friday afternoon.
The young Imps ran out 3-1 winners in a dominate performance with goals coming from Denny Oliver, Dan Vanderpuye and Bola Okewoye.
After losing their opening day fixture against Wrexham on Tuesday, Tillen was happy with the way his side bounced back.
He said: “I was really pleased with the performance. I thought we started brightly and asserted ourselves on the game and that was our plan.
“I thought we looked sharp going forward, organised defensively and I think we deserved the win.”
Tillen opted to start with an attacking team, with Okewoye, Vanderpuye Zane Okoro and Dakara Wifa all being named in the lineup and contributing to City’s first win of the 24/25 campaign.
He added: “They have a lot of dynamism, athleticism and skill. To have that and have all four together really caused Mansfield a problem on the day.
“I’m pleased for Bola, he deserved his goal. Dakara was sharp all the way through. It was good to have Zane back and I thought Dan worked really hard and deserved his goal.”
