Sam Tillen was delighted with his side’s performance despite not picking up all three points against Chesterfield.
The young Imps were held to draw by the Spireites despite Will Cowin’s second goal in as many games.
He said: “It was again, another young side that we fielded and there were some excellent performers - Denny Oliver was outstanding.
“We deservedly went ahead after a good start through Will and throughout the game we offered a real attacking threat. However, we just couldn’t get that second goal, despite creating some very good opportunities.”
Tillen believes his side deserved to win the game and is looking to take the positives from the performance into their next Youth Alliance fixture against Doncaster Rovers.
He continued: “I feel we deserved to win, we restricted Chesterfield to just two chances really, one they took and one Jaden made a great save.
“We were the dominant team, in terms of possession and chances and if we can perform in a similar fashion against Doncaster, we will give ourselves a good chance of taking something from the game.”
