Imps secure Darikwa's future

City have moved to secure Tendayi Darikwa with a new contract which could keep him at the club until the summer of 2027.

The 33-year-old has impressed since signing a one-year deal this summer, already making 27 appearances and contributing three goals as an attacking right-back or wing-back.

His new contract runs until the end of the 2025/26 campaign, with a club option for a further 12 months.

Head coach Michael Skubala said: “Tendayi is a an exemplary professional, massively impacting the group with his leadership on and off the pitch since he joined us last summer.

“Tendayi has performed to a high level in his favoured position and also helped the team by filling in at centre back when required. He trains every day, is available every game, sets standards in everything he does and is a brilliant influence on our young players. We are delighted to have formalised his contract with us for the next 18 months so that all parties have certainty for next season.”
