A superb Tom Bayliss free-kick along with goals from Dom Jefferies, Freddie Draper, Ethan Hamilton and James Collins, saw the Imps claim an impressive victory over Peterborough United.
Head coach Michael Skubala made two changes from the side that beat Northampton Town last time out, with Dom Jefferies and Tom Bayliss replacing Reeco Hackett and the injured Jack Moylan.
City were the side to break the deadlock after 12 minutes, as a free-kick to the back post found its way to Jefferies who made no mistake from less than 12 yards for his first goal of the season.
A strong wave of Imps pressure followed, with the visitors struggling to pass their way into the City half.
Peterborough's Ryan De Havilland came within inches of equalising after 25 minutes, when his free-kick from over 20 yards struck the post and was cleared on the rebound.
Tom Bayliss was next to strike three minutes later, as his left-footed effort flew wide at the near post. Whilst that effort was wide, his next strike was sublime. After Freddie Draper was fouled on the edge of the box, Bayliss' effort arrowed into the top left-corner leaving goalkeeper Nicolas Bilokapic with no chance.
Nine minutes into the second half and City were given the chance to add a third when Jefferies was toppled over by Cian Hayes, giving referee no choice but to give a penalty. Freddie Draper stepped up and made no mistake with his strike, sending Bilokapic the wrong way.
Posh found a goal back on the hour mark, when Ricky Jade-Jones flicked the ball home, after Gustav Lindgren won the ball, high in the City half.
Michael Skubala made a double change with 25 to play as Ethan Hamilton and new signing James Collins were brought on to replace goalscroers Bayliss and Draper.
City got their fourth from the following play as Hamilton pounced with his first touch of the game to poke the ball into the back of the net from a long throw.
Peterborough substitute Chris Conn-Clarke had an effort from distance fly over as the visitors looked to find a way back into the contest.
City's new man James Collins had the perfect introduction to life as an Imp when he rounded off the scoring on 83 minutes. Felloe substitute Jovon Makama found him, before he expertly chipped Bilokapic.
In the six minutes of added time, Hector Kyprianou forced a save out of Imps goalkeeper Jeacock, diving to his left to tip the ball over the bar.
