Adam Jackson spoke about how impressed he has been with the quality of deliveries so far this season after his double helped City to a 4-1 win over Mansfield Town.
Jackson’s first career brace saw the Imps record a first home victory of the campaign, and the centre-half paid homage to his team-mates' creativity.
He said: “We had quality deliveries from both Sean Roughan and Tom Bayliss. We should’ve maybe had a few more, we said there in the dressing room that we could’ve had six or seven.
“We highlighted that Paudie is unbelievable at attacking set pieces, so if we can free him up he can put it at goal or head it back towards one of us.
“We’ve worked on it quite a few times now, and he’s scored a couple at Burton himself, and he set me up on this occasion.”
Despite stepping into the role as goal-scorer, Jackson also praised the hard work of both Ben House and Jovon Makama who didn’t let the Mansfield defenders have a moment of rest.
He continued, “Ben and Jovon’s work rate was top class. They’ve had to do a lot of running, a lot of selfless running across the back four. It was good to see Ben get his reward (with a goal).
“When I first signed five years ago, Jovon always had the size and physicality, but it was just getting that out of him, and during the back end of last season and pre-season he’s been a different animal.
“You wouldn’t want to play against him, he has the physicality, the pace to run in behind and the strength, and he’s sticking his head on things. He’s been a handful to deal with.”
