Charlotte Dinsdale was pleased with the positive reaction her side displayed against Boldmere St Michaels on Sunday.
The Imps were bright going forward and had spells of dominance in the match and were ultimately unfortunate not to get themselves on the scoresheet.
Dinsdale said: “It was really good to get a positive reaction from the girls. We’ve had a very good week of training, tried new things and if we can cut out some of the little errors and mistakes then we could’ve been in closer contention with the score-line.
“We’ve changed things a little bit, we’ve put people in different places and it offered us more legs in and around the forward line. I’m really pleased to see us transfer our work on the training pitch to a matchday.”
City’s head coach also praised a number of performances across the park as her side’s high press caused Boldmere a host of problems.
She continued, “We’ve had some great performances. We know what we get with Lexie Butterworth week in week out, we could play her anywhere on the pitch and she’d put her heart and soul into it. Bearing in mind she’s only just turned 17, she’s a really exciting prospect for the future.
“If you look at Eva Fowler, she did a superb job with lots of energy out on the left, and Hayley Wood came in for her debut and she put in a fantastic performance.
“There was loads of energy and we looked like a real threat going forward. That’s just to name three players but we had some really strong performances right across the units.”
Dinsdale and her side now turn their attention to Thursday night when they host local rivals Lincoln United.
Dinsdale added: “It was a really positive display and hopefully we continue to build on that ahead of Thursday.”
