Lincoln City Academy are inviting expressions of interest in their Shadow Scholarship scheme - with trials set for all upcoming school holidays.
After recent success in the Scholar programme, City are welcoming players looking for post-16 opportunities (current U16s, year 11+) to learn, train, and play under the Lincoln City umbrella in the club’s Shadow Scholar programme. Trials will be held at Riseholme College’s Showground Campus, with the next one in February half-term.
The scheme is an opportunity for previous academy players and students seeking higher education alongside football within Lincoln City, in conjunction with further education at Riseholme College.
Alongside the 4G pitch, the shadow programme makes use of the facilities at the college, such as the fully equipped strength and conditioning suite, with dedicated and UEFA qualified coaches to help the players’ development both on and off the field.
There are potential pathways and progression opportunities within the season for those excelling to play with the Lincoln City Youth Team and potentially beyond.
Elicha Ahui went on to become a professional with the Imps having come through the Shadow Scholar programme and has recently won the Irish FAI Cup with Drogheda United. Other future pathways include university, scholarships in America as well as many careers in sport and football.
