Bayliss pleased to be back

Tom Bayliss, wearing a red shirt and black shorts, tries to get away from a Stevenage player in an all purple kit.

Tom Bayliss is pleased to be back contributing to the Imps, having made his first start since early October during Saturday's game against Stevenage.

Injury had kept the attacking midfielder on the sidelines, but after four appearances off the bench in December he was back in the starting XI at the weekend.

He said: “I’ve had to build myself up to play games again and it’s great to be back out there with the lads - now I want to help the team as I build back to full fitness.”

Bayliss was thankful for the backing shown by supporters as the Imps tried to take the game to Boro.

He added: “The fans are going to be anxious because we haven’t won many games recently. We can only show what we are trying to do on the pitch to keep them behind us.

"I thought their support in the second half was really good. They kept us going and we had a really big chance at the end, but at the minute that’s not dropping for us. We need to work hard and turn it around.”
