Ali Smith is fully focused on building on City’s home league record against Cheltenham Town.
The Imps faced West Ham United in front of a capacity crowd on Wednesday night but insists his attention has quickly turned to Saturday’s game against the Robins.
He said: “As much as it was a great night on Wednesday, football changes quickly and we have been preparing for the game on Saturday.
“It’s just as big, if not bigger than the West Ham game. We can’t have a hangover from Wednesday - as much as it was a great occasion. I’m sure all the lads’ focus will be on Saturday now because we’ve got a great group here.”
There’s been strong competition for places in midfield so far this season, which is something that has spurred Smith on.
He added: “With such a talented squad like this, there’s so much competition for places, especially in central midfield.
“I am a team player and will play wherever I am needed to help the squad out.
“If you get in the team you have to keep performing well because there’s always people on the bench that will come on and take your spot.”
