Sean Roughan is delighted to be called up to the Ireland U21 side ahead of the upcoming international break.
The Irishman has already made three appearances for the U21 side and hopes to help his country qualify for the 2025 European Championships.
Roughan said: “I’m over the moon, to get a call up for your country is unbelievable. As a kid growing up, getting the chance to play for your country at any level is what you want to do.
“Hopefully I’ll get that chance to play in the qualifiers for Ireland and try and make history by qualifying at the end of the campaign - and that’s what we’re striving for.”
Roughan has made a positive start to the season, with City keeping five clean sheets already this term.
He added: “At the end of the day, that’s the job - to keep a clean sheet. There’s not a huge difference from last year, we’re still keeping clean sheets but we’re trying to play a little bit more, and you can see that.
“I want to play as many minutes as I can, and I want to play as many games as I can. I know I played a bit last year, but I want to play even more this year.”
