Ethan Hamilton felt City were unfortunate to come out on the losing side of their Carabao Cup third round tie against West Ham United.
The Imps had their chances but were ultimately defeated by Tomas Soucek’s 70th minute goal.
Hamilton said: “Everyone put a shift in, and that sums us up. We all work hard for each other, and I think that’s the most important thing, and I think the fans really get behind that.
“Everyone’s fighting in the same direction, we were just a little bit unfortunate.”
The crowd willed their team on until the final whistle, with Hamilton grateful for their support against Premier League opposition.
He added: “When I woke up on Wednesday morning I was just itching for the game, because I knew the atmosphere was going to be brilliant.
“When the fans get behind you there’s no better place to play football. I really enjoyed the atmosphere.”
