Shaw: I owe this club a lot

Tom Shaw wants to give something back to the Imps as he prepares to take charge of a game for the first time.

Shaw has been part of the coaching setup at City for five years, working within the Academy prior to taking on the role of first-team coach.

He said: “I owe this club a lot. This club has been fantastic for me in my development and right now I just want to make sure the players are in the best place possible.

“I was fortunate a couple of weeks ago to play in the FPA charity match and I was around people that consider Lincoln City a big part of their life. It was really interesting listening to people like Grant Brown and Mark Hone talk about the fabric of the club, what it means and what a performance needs to look like.

“There will be a big reminder of that before we take the pitch at 3pm on Saturday.”

Shaw says his focus is on the players as they head into a busy run of fixtures starting with Saturday’s trip to Fleetwood Town.

He added “These players are brilliant, they’re very together and drive each other on daily. I’ve told the players they’re an absolute pleasure to be around, and the best group of players I’ve ever had the chance to lead.

"That's the feeling around the building with players and staff, we know we've a very tough game but everything feels really positive."

Catch the Imps back at the LNER Stadium on Tuesday 24 October and secure your tickets as they face Charlton Athletic under the lights.
