City captain Paudie O’Connor has emphasised the role he and his team-mates have under the management of interim head coach, Tom Shaw.
The Irishman says the squad have discussed the importance of hard work over the course of the upcoming hectic schedule.
He said: “We’ve spoken amongst ourselves about the part we have to play now and it’s down to us as players to ensure we’re performing through this busy run of fixtures and doing the badge proud.
“I’ve been in football long enough and manager changes are part and parcel of the business. We have to use those experiences going into the next few weeks to make sure we’re giving our all for Tom Shaw who is a very good coach with high ambitions.”
On the appointment of Shaw, O’Connor says the well-respected interim head coach is a popular figure across the club.
He added: “He is a great guy first and foremost and is well respect within the group. He wouldn’t have got this opportunity otherwise.
“More importantly he’s a very good coach, he’s proven that over the last 16 months in which he’s been with the first team and he has come through the academy too, so he’s well respected throughout the club.”
