Mark Kennedy thought City showed good professionalism to overcome Wolves’ U21 side 2-0 in the EFL Trophy.
Jovon Makama’s injury-time breakaway goal sealed the points for the Imps after Hakeeb Adelakun had given City a 19th minute lead.
Kennedy said: “I thought we did well, and I thought we deserved it.
“I thought we were very professional in and out of possession, so it was a very positive night with a lot of players getting minutes.”
Kennedy felt a lot of positives came out of the match, with City now second in group G with one game to play.
He added: “People got minutes, people got confidence, we got a clean sheet - I thought Jordan Wright made a great save at the end.
“There were lots of positives to come out of the game. It was a banana skin avoided, and I thought the lads were very, very good.”
