Birthplace plaque unveiled in city centre

A plaque commemorating the original formation of Lincoln City Football Club was recently unveiled in the city centre by the Red Imps Community Trust (RICT).

On Saturday 30 September the Mayor of Lincoln Biff Bean had the honour of unveiling a plaque outside the Moshulu shop at 251 High Street - the site of the former Monson Arms Public House where in July 1884 Messrs Mortimer, Sharpley-Bainbridge, and Strawson set up the club.

The event was set up by the RICT, whose heritage remit helps recognise the history of the club in a variety of ways.Image removed.

Club representatives including chairman Clive Nates, chief executive Liam Scully, director of football Jez George and investors Pablo Webster and Brian Anderson all attended the unveiling which marked the historic formation of the club.
