Jack Burroughs was thrilled to score his first goal for the Imps in City’s 2-0 victory against Notts County on Tuesday night.
The wing-back slotted in at the near post to put City ahead after just six minutes, setting up a victory which saw the Imps advance to the knockout stages of the Bristol Street Motors Trophy.
Burroughs said: “I very much enjoyed my night. The goal was a long time coming, and thankfully it got us off to a good start in the game. We managed to get the win and that sees us through to the knockout stages now, so we’re all happy inside.
“We needed that cushion of the second goal because we were under pressure for a lot of the second half.
“They’re a good team, and they have a lot of possession, but at 2-0, with our defensive record, you’d back us to see the game out.”
The Coventry City loanee has been enjoying his time with City so far and hopes to continue contributing for the remainder of the season.
He continued: “I’m loving it. When you come as a loan player, you come to get that game time and thankfully I’ve had it in abundance - long may it continue.”
