Paudie O’Connor is ready to build on the solid foundations that have been laid down throughout the 2022/23 season.
The Irishman has missed just two league games this season and believes there’s lots of positives to draw on both as a club and a personal level heading into the summer.
He said: “It has been very enjoyable. On the whole I think it has been a successful season, especially because of the amount of new staff and players that came in. I think it’s been positive and there’s lots to take into next season.
“I am very pleased to have played as many games as I have this season. You have to perform to keep yourself in the team, however keeping injury free and available for selection is always big for me. I have been lucky enough to do that over the last few years so to continue it this year is pleasing.”
O’Connor is also determined to send the City supporters away with a smile on their face following Sunday’s season finale and has been really impressed with the backing he’s received in his first full campaign at the club.
He continued: “Our fans have been unbelievable all season. I have had a few friends and family members come over for some of the games and the support is something they’ve talked about straight away.
“The LNER Stadium is packed out every week and the 617 lot over in the corner make a lot of noise which helps get the crowd going. They have followed us both home and away this year and hopefully we have given them enough to shout about to come and support us next season.”
