The club can now provide supporters with an update following the recent fan surveys regarding plans to introduce standing in some seated areas at the LNER Stadium.
These surveys focused on specific areas in the stadium along with a wider survey issued to the entire season membership database.
Reassuringly, a high percentage of Imps fans are already aware that new legislation announced in 2022 means that football clubs must ensure that those fans who wish to stand in designated areas are able to do so safely, and are also supportive of the club’s proposals to invest in safety barriers or rail seats where appropriate at the LNER Stadium. More than 90% of respondents were in favour of the club’s plans to invest in safety barriers, most notably in the GBM Stand Upper 7 Block, as well as plans to introduce a brand new option for standing in parts of the Stacey West Stand.
The club’s director of operations Damian Froggatt said: "We’d like to thank everyone who took the time to complete this survey. While we do understand that some supporters still have concerns, it is reassuring to know that the club’s plans have been very well received by a high percentage of our fanbase.
"We’d also like to reassure everyone that we are working closely with the safety authorities and are also consulting with other clubs where standing in seated areas is already successfully in operation.
"All the evidence from those clubs who already have standing solutions installed demonstrates that not only does it enhance the fan experience but also makes it safer for those who do wish to stand in selected areas.
"Once the club’s plans have been approved by the safety authorities, we will issue a further update, respond to supporters’ questions and publish the plans in full."
