Mark Kennedy took the positives from Lincoln City’s final pre-season display against Rotherham United.
The friendly was the Imps’ last match in their pre-season schedule ahead of next Saturday’s trip to Bolton Wanderers to kick off the Sky Bet League One season.
Kennedy said: “I’m disappointed in the result, but there were some really good things in the game. Up until the second goal we were really happy – there were some good passages of play. I thought we looked dangerous, and we had some really good moments in the game.
“Two minutes into the second half we have a brilliant move, and we’re unlucky not to score through Lasse Sorensen at the back post. Within a minute they score through an incredible free kick, but up until that I thought there was some really good stuff, and some really positive things.”
The game also presented Kennedy with the opportunity to change formation and try some different things in preparation for the new campaign.
He added: "Obviously Reeco Hackett had a little bit of a tight groin. So we changed, and I thought it would be a good opportunity to take advantage of the game and play 3-5-2 with Ben House and Tyler Walker and just have a look at it.
"Once Reeco came off it was kind of like a training exercise for us. That allowed us to look at the ‘what ifs’ of certain scenarios, because at some point in the season we will play 3-5-2, of that I have no doubt."
