City defender Sean Roughan has praised the competitive environment which continues to motivate the team and create healthy rivalry for places.
The Irishman credited the mentality of the whole squad for the way in which they help each other to improve on the pitch.
He said: “TJ Eyoma is a recent example of a player who came in after being on the bench and has shown why he should be starting, and that’s what this team has done all season. The players who have come in have done exceptionally well and hopefully the people on the bench can keep pushing on.
“Jamie has pushed me and kept the pressure up for the whole season. When he started playing, I’ve tried to push him and that’s how we are growing as players and improving and hopefully we can continue that for the rest of the season."
After securing points against promotion hopefuls Ipswich Town and Bolton Wanderers, the 19-year-old says he has been relishing the challenge of tough opponents this season.
He said: “It’s been difficult playing against teams like Bolton and Ipswich, but it’s been a good challenge and I want to play against these players week in and week out.
“It’s been enjoyable for me. I’ve relished the challenge and I want to keep going for the rest of the season.”
