As the Imps prepare for Saturday’s trip to The Valley, head coach Mark Kennedy believes he can take pride from his side’s recent performances.
City protected their unbeaten home league run against two promotion-hopefuls in Bolton Wanderers and Ipswich Town over the festive period despite having ten-men on the pitch for large periods.
The Imps head coach is confident his side will continue to show these attributes as they aim to build on their solid start to 2023.
Kennedy said: “We were resolute, hard to beat, united; all the buzz words you’d want to hear we have shown over the recent two fixtures. I’m not surprised by what I’ve seen in any way, shape or form because the guys have done that for six months now.
“When we played Charlton earlier in the season it was a quiet day where not a lot happened in the game and so a draw was probably a fair result. At the time I thought it was a good point to secure, and then they went on a really strong run which evidenced that afterwards.
“Charlton have some really talented individuals, they are a very good attacking side and from an outside perspective looking inwards, it’s a good group of players' which I would expect to be competing at the top end of the league.”
