Paudie O’Connor said his side take pride in their defensive duties having kept four clean sheets in their last five games.
The central defender has played every minute of City’s Sky Bet League One campaign to date alongside Regan Poole, and the Irishman believes these relationships have laid the foundations for a strong defensive record.
He said: “There’s been two or three of us who have been there for every game and having that relationship does stand you in good stead to get clean sheets or big results.
“It all starts on the training pitch with the coaching staff we have here. Our good defensive record isn’t miraculous, we have worked hard on it and take pride in it.”
City’s No. 15 was also keen to praise the involvement the supporters have had in the side’s recent run of strong form, crediting a share of the points to the atmosphere the fans have created.
He added: “The support on Tuesday was probably the best I’ve seen from an away group. We had to draw on that noise in the latter stages, so credit to them for the help they provided.
“The 617 Squadron will have the place bouncing early doors on Saturday and with the way we’re playing at the moment, it’s set up to be a really good atmosphere and I know the lads cannot wait.”
