Head coach Mark Kennedy applauded the composed performance from matchwinner Regan Poole against Bristol Rovers.
The Welshman netted the winning goal and helped the side to a fourth consecutive clean sheet as the Imps secured back-to-back wins in Sky Bet League One.
Kennedy said: “Regan’s availability to train and perform is sky high, and he is deservedly the captain of the club.
“The job he has done for the team has been exceptional this year and he deserves a huge amount of credit.”
“I keep saying to the lads not to underestimate the power of clean sheets because normally you can’t win games without them.”
Kennedy was also happy with the well-rounded nature of his side’s performance which saw them complete the league double over the Pirates.
He added: “Back-to-back wins are massive, our style of play was really offensive and I thought we pressed excellently.
“I am particularly pleased for the group that they get the rewards they deserve. If we keep doing what we’re doing and believe in the process, the evidence of that work usually shows.”
