Mark Kennedy has complimented the togetherness within the squad following a positive run of results.
The Imps have picked up seven points in their last three fixtures which has continued to improve the mood within the group.
He said: “The lads are in a really good place and the biggest compliment I want to pay the group is how they train, whether they are in or out of the team.
“I said it the other night but it is the best group I have worked with. Everybody is selfless and there is a good togetherness in the team.”
City will look to record a sixth match unbeaten on Saturday and Kennedy believes his side are more than capable of achieving this in what he expects to be a challenging encounter.
He added: “As staff we are very comfortable with what we have got to choose from. We have definitely got the ability of playing people who can execute a game plan.
“I think we have adapted to different teams and situations during the season, and have shown real flexibility.
“Portsmouth are a top ten side with a fantastic young head coach and really good individual players.”
