Michael Skubala wants his side to be really competitive as City aim for progression in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy.
The Imps head coach is eager for a cup run and relishing the chance to secure a place in the last 16 of the competition when City head to Accrington Stanley on Tuesday night.
He said: “As a club, we want to take the cup seriously. We want to be really competitive and if we play well we’ve got a good chance of going through into the next round.
“Winning can become a good habit, so we’ll be trying to win the game and put out a competitive team to do that.”
City could extend their unbeaten run to four games when they take to the pitch on Tuesday, but Skubala wants to remain mindful of the quality that Accrington possess.
He added: “Accrington are a good side. It’s a tough place to go and it will be a difficult game. We’ve got to be mindful and ready for what they are going to throw at us.”
