Michael Skubala is happy with how his side carried out the game plan to earn a hard-fought point at Wigan Athletic.
The Latics had won their last three matches at the DW Stadium but struggled to find a way past a determined City side as Skubala’s men picked up a share of the spoils.
He said: “We came to be disciplined in our structure because Wigan are a really good team with the ball. They have caused problems to teams at home on the big pitch, but I thought to a man we were on it.
“They were trying to drag us all over the place but we had worked on that in training. We pressed them from minute one and thought we did it really well.
“It is a big point for me. I said to the lads not to be disappointed because Wigan have won quite a few on the bounce at home.”
Skubala was also full of praise for his defence and substitutes who helped to see out the match and earn a clean sheet away from home.
He added: “I was really pleased with the substitutes that came on who impacted the game, but also kept to the plan and structure.
“Paudie O’Connor was superb and his leadership skills are immense, he’s so big for the group. Adam Jackson, TJ Eyoma and the rest of the backline stood up to everything too.”
