Skubala keen to keep away form up

Michael Skubala says ‘it’s all to play for’ as his team seek a third successive win away from home.

The Imps head to the DW Stadium seeking to build on victories at Leyton Orient and Cambridge United, but Skubala is under no illusions about the task at hand.

He said: “I think Wigan are a good team. They’ve caused a lot of teams’ problems this season and will be tough opposition on Saturday.

“I know Wigan have received a points deduction but if you take that away they would be right in the mix.”

Almost a month into his reign in charge of the first team, Skubala also reflected on how the players have taken on board the methods encouraged.

Skubala said: “In certain moments, we encourage them to be calm but then in others it’s about speeding up the tempo and changing the pace of the attack. We’ve been working on it since I came in, and it’s those little things to improve us on the ball really.

“The players have been great. Every day we work hard and they’ve got a good energy. They’re a great bunch of lads. I think everyone can be proud of the group that’s been put together here – it’s so far, so good in terms of their efforts.

“We keep pushing now ahead of a challenging Christmas period with a lot of games coming up, but hopefully we can pick up points.”
